We have lift off!

The Living Mill project is really picking up pace now. After our launch on 27th October, we have had lots of positive support and offers of help. Now we will see the first big event as the mill’s cap is lifted by crane and lowered to the ground for conservation work.

This is the first time in 30 years that this has happened and it is crucial to the future of Wymondham Windmill.

The cap will be lifted for repair on Tuesday 29th around 9.30-10.30. Please come along to see this part of the building’s history, but do check the website regularly for updates as this kind of work is weather dependent and may be postponed. If you can’t make it, don’t worry. Our filmmaker Alex J Wright will be recording the event and posting his film on the website shortly.

Millwright Adam Marriott will be leading the conservation work. We are looking for volunteers to help him over the coming months. If you fancy the idea of learning how to lime wash, repoint stonework or have other practical skills to share, please get in touch via the website http://wymondhamwindmill.co.uk/the-living-mill/
